Baby’s growth in the first trimester

Pregnancy comprises of three trimesters. The First trimester lasts from week 1 through the end of week 13 of pregnancy. The second trimester lasts from week 14 through the end of week 28 and the third lasts from week 29 to week 40. During the first trimester, a single fertilized cell will change to an embryo. And this embryo goes through many changes to developing a fetus. Pregnancy is an exciting and learning phase for every woman. Your body will go through many changes and even your baby is growing and developing and yes you are stepping forward to motherhoods. During the first trimester, you will notice many changes (early signs and symptoms). 

Week 1 – Week 4

Pregnancy is calculated from the first day of the woman’s last period. The conception of the baby will take after two weeks of your periods. Most likely week 3 is the time when you have conceived your baby. By this time embryo might have developed.

Week 4 - Week 8

The embryo will go through many changes at this time.

The development of the brain, spinal cord, heart, and gastrointestinal tract.

Arm and leg buds are visible.

Eyes and Ear's early structures are forming.

The formation of the lungs, jaw, and nose begins.

The hand and feet buds have structured.

Every essential organ has begun to form in that tiny embryo’s body.

Hair follicles, eyelids, and tongue are forming
.
The facial features continue to mature.

By the end of week 8, the embryo is about 1 inch long.


Week 9 - Week 13


Now, the embryonic period is at the end and begins the fetal period.

By the time, a fetus has grown to about 2.5 inches long.

By the end of week 11, genitalia will start developing to him/her.

The buds for future teeth appear.

Your baby’s head makes up about half of its length.

You may be able to hear your baby's heartbeat by an ultrasound test.

Your baby’s face is getting mature day by day.

Basically, during the first-trimester baby's bones, muscles, digestive system, brain, sense of touch and taste, will develop.
