Pregnancy is the phase where your body goes through many physical changes because of hormonal imbalance.
The skin changes are also observed during
pregnancy.
Women commonly experience these skin changes throughout
their pregnancy,
1. Stretch marks
2. Varicose veins and spider veins
3. Linea nigra
4. Melasma
5. Acne and dark spots
Changes in hormonal levels, blood circulation, and the immune system affect your skin’s texture, appearance, and sensitivity.
Stretch marks: Pregnancy hormones affect the layer of the skin and cause ridges and lines to
appear on the skin. Stretch marks are also developed because of an increase in
weight which leads to stretching of the skin. The stretch marks are not the same
as your skin tone it will be a different color ranging from pink to brown,
black or purple. Stretch marks are thought to be hereditary if your mother and
sister had them during their pregnancies you may be more likely to develop them.
Stretch marks increase as your weight increase it is mostly seen on breast,
belly, and thighs. After you deliver baby your stretch marks will fade gradually.
Nowadays, many products are available in the market. Apply them
with the prescription of the doctor. You can also apply a mixture of coconut oil with camphor on
stretch marks and even applying cocoa shea butter is effective.
Varicose veins and spider veins: Extra blood circulating in your body puts pressure on
capillaries and increased levels of the hormone are the main reasons why you get
broken veins. Now, these capillaries (tiny blood vessels) that break is known
as spider veins. Spider veins are mostly noticed on the face, throat, arms, and neck.
And you’ll notice that with time it will fade.
Linea nigra: The vertical line that appears from the pubic bone
to the middle of your belly and sometimes also crosses the belly button to just
below your sternum is Linea nigra. It’s caused by
Melasma: During pregnancy, you may notice that the nipple and area around nipples get darken and also inner thighs, armpits and tummy buttons get darken. Some areas of your skin getting darker is also the common sign during pregnancy. Darker patches of pigmentation on your cheeks, neck, and forehead are known as melasma or mask of pregnancy.
Acne and dark spots:: In pregnancy, the hormonal levels increases which encourages the production of oil (sebum) which raises your skin problems. And hence due to blocked pores you get acne and dark spots.

during pregnancy
1 Drink plenty of
water
2 Never compromise on a balanced diet
3 Sleep for at least
8-10 hrs
4 Avoid harsh chemical
products
5 Avoid stress
7 Talk to the doctor regarding skin problems and take treatment if required.
